SHELLS

The process literally begins at the root: with the shell.	Two and three-ply cross-laminated panels are then cut.	All Ludwig USA shells are produced using Radio Frequency Shell Technology.	The optimum make-up of grain rotation, consistency and arrangement is essential.
Completed shells are then cut to size and routed for Ludwig's bearing edge.	Each shell gets personal care and attention from the craftsman.	Two-step inner seal-lacquer coat and sanding process.	Shells for custom LCG kits and components are then matched - by order.

FINISHES

WrapTite drum sets are then taken to get the final ply.

Lacquered drums begin their 5-step coating process.

An outer coat of poly-lacquer is applied.

Ludwig's special UV-cured outer lacquer coat is applied.

Hand-rubbed, buffed for shine and protection.

PRE-ASSEMBLY

Shells are then drilled and prepared.

The iconic Keystone badge is fitted into place.

METAL SNARES, HEADS & ASSEMBLY

Individually sanded, buffed, and polished.

All Ludwig USA drums are fitted with Ludwig WeatherMaster Heads.

Completed shells and snares are then assembled, inspected, and checked.

Checked for accuracy through a newly-improved inspection process.

Ludwig's original Speed King remains a favorite of drummers the world over.

In addition to drum sets, Ludwig USA in Monroe, NC is also the manufacturing point for Ludwig Timpani, Concert and Marching Percussion, hand-wound Musser mallets, Drum Heads, Pedals, and other accessories; all of which get the same 'white-glove' treatment from our experienced manufacturing staff.
